I was given the audio-book “Unforgivable Part 2” by James Fuller in exchange for an honest review.
CONTENT WARNING: Use of the word Gypsy and spoilers from the first book.
What would you do if someone killed your father? Sofia decided to take revenge.
Sofia is the daughter of Jamus from the first Unforgivable book. When her dad is murdered, Sofia takes it on herself to avenge his death. Along the way, she meets a group of Gypsy’s who, in exchange for some debt collecting, help her get a special herb that allows Sofia to sleep without dreams.
Sofia suffers from PTSD and needs a special herb to allow her to sleep. She needs her sleep if she's going to gain strength to kill the king of the land, the man responsible for her father’s death.
Unforgivable Part 2 was written very well and had much more memorable characters than the first book. Sofia felt like her father’s daughter and the other side characters felt fleshed out.
The only issue I had with this book (just like the first), was the length. It was even shorter than the first book and the majority of the book took place in the B plot. By the time we made it back to the main plot of the story, it was almost over. This made the A plot feel very rushed.
The main villain, in my opinion, had very little personality, and the one scene that was put in to make him feel evil was 1. Too much and 2. Kind of out of the blue. The rest of the characters were fine but this ended up feeling like less of a victory when Sofia finally got her revenge.
I can recommend Unforgivable Part 2 to anyone who read the first book and enjoyed it, or anyone who needs a quick read and enjoys dark themes. The audio-book is only $3 on Amazon.
